Nobody can be unfamiliar with the term MAHJONG these days. It happened to take over a lot of people's lives in so many ways. Putting aside the fact that it is a part of gambling, it is also a part of a good past time!
I recall always looking at adults spending their time bonding over Mahjong while I was having fun with my cousins. (:
What memories do you have about Mahjong?
This February, a new movie about Mahjong is out and just by looking at the trailer, I know I'd enjoy it. I mean, look at all the awesome movies about Mahjong that had been out already.
I was very lucky to be able to attend the Gala Premiere of King Of Mahjong and brought Valerie(surprise surprise) along with me! She was a big help for me when I couldn't arrive on time to catch the celebrities on red carpet because of my classes.
Sooo I'm thrilled that I can still have pictures to share.
I was surprised to see so many celebrities showing up and especially the Singapore celebrities like Dawn Yeoh, Hayley and Jayley!
There are a few Hong Kong celebrities that I am not familiar with. Did you guys all know who they are? Haha
The movie was more than just hilarious, as what you would expect from who were chosen to act in this film. It included love, and touching sides of people as well.
It's funny how the film made me on the verge of crying with all the sad and touching scenes but quickly made them disappeared with with a hilarious scene. lol. Well played.
Glad I didn't have to leave the theatre with my mascara running! Well exaggerated. Haha. But seriously though.
I didn't know there was such a history with Mahjong until I watched this film. Totally teaching people about how to not play Mahjong for the sake of winning but for enjoyment!
Some jokes may be lame for some people but some jokes were really good I admit.
So I saw the one Venus Wong on stage before the film played and man was I surprised by how she is able to act like that! It is like 2 different person altogether. I can't imagine having to act like that, really. I am deeply impressed, very impressed.

In the theatres before the movie started...
I still can't believe how we got welcomed by these actors with a Chinese New Year song when they were making their entrance. Way to make us feel privileged!
So yes, we did get a chance to see them up close with that picture of Patricia Mok (the clearest I could manage) to take. Or should I say, they got really close to us since they were walking down the stairs right beside us. Haha
That young Hong Kong actor was quite the cutie with his dimples and all. Valerie and I both agree although we are not very familiar with who he is lol
There was definitely limitless amount of laughter that filled the whole theatre when they were having a casual discussion about King Of Mahjong. I would say they lived up to the standard of being comedians as how they were mostly portrayed in tv shows or movies. I enjoyed their jokes very much hahaha.

MOVIE SYNOPSIS

In a bid to force Fatt into the showdown, Wong abducts Fatt’s wife,
Ramona (Michelle Ye), and threatens her to be on his alliance. Fatt has no
choice but to join the championship as Wong holds his wife hostage. On the
mahjong table, Fatt and Wong compete as the finalists; Master Ru’s secret legendary
mahjong move and the truth comes to light as the winner emerges...
